2018 Heart of Our City Activity Grants Awarded to 24 Local Events

Grants are available to local organizations looking to host events that foster an exciting and vibrant downtown.

Twenty-four events receiving a combined total of $120,000 on Thursday (Nov. 23) as the 2018 Heart of Our City Grant recipients. Grants are available to local organizations looking to host events that foster an exciting and vibrant downtown. George Kuhl, Planning Initiatives Manager for the City of Lethbridge, notes that the grants have really played a key role in revitalizing the downtown. The events being hosted throughout next year will include a variety of music, arts and cultural festivals, as well as seasonal celebrations. Events will take place every month, and the hope is to attract more than 57,000 people to Lethbridge's downtown. Grant applications were assessed for merit, and awarded by the Heart of Our City Committee in consultation with the City's Community Services department, the Office of the City Clerk and a citizen member at large. -Sam Borsato
