4.6 Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Red Deer

At least 50 people in the Red Deer area reported feeling the seismic activity early Monday morning.

At 5:55 am on Monday, March 4th, Earthquakes Canada reported a ground-shaking event between Alberta's two largest cities.

Located approximately 4 km SSW of Red Deer and 132 km NNE of Calgary, they say the earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.6.

As of 8:27 am, 51 people reported that they felt the earthquake with a few people giving the intensity a five-out-of-10.

Earthquakes Canada said the quake was "widely felt" in both Red Deer and the nearby town of Sylvan Lake.
