QinetiQ's largest Canadian contract will deliver unmanned aircraft systems to the Canadian Armed Forces.

A multi-million dollar contract has been awarded to a southern Alberta facility that designs, manufactures and operates unmanned vehicles.

The $51-million contract, announced by QinetiQ late last week, will deliver unmanned aircraft systems for the Canadian Armed Forces' UAS Program.

In order to fulfill the contract, QinetiQ will be expanding its Medicine Hat operations by about 5,000 square feet.

QinetiQ is also planning to use the Foremost UAS Range in order to test the vehicles. The southern Alberta range is Canada's only beyond-visual-line-of-sight restricted airspace.
