Alberta Liberals: More Culturally-Sensitive Resources Needed for Opioid Crisis in Southern Alberta

Alberta Liberal Leader David Khan is calling for more government resources to be mobilized in southern Alberta for the opioid crisis.

The provincial Liberals are calling for more culturally-sensitive resources to battle the opioid crisis in southern Alberta. There have been more than 52 overdoses in the Lethbridge area between February 19th and 26th. Liberal MLA David Swann says first responders in Lethbridge and on the Blood Reserve have done an excellent job of responding to overdoses and preventing further deaths. However, party members believe more government resources need to be mobilized in this part of the province, specifically ones that are "culturally-sensitive to Indigenous people and their communities." Alberta Liberals also say federal funds for opioids and future cannabis revenue should be invested in mental health and addictions prevention. - Tina Giesbrecht
