John Elvis Jones, 25, was told by a judge earlier this month that he was required to enter a plea at his next appearance, but failed to show up to court on Thursday (Feb. 22).

An arrest warrant being issued on Thursday (Feb. 22) for a man charged in connection to an incident where he allegedly tried to flee from Lethbridge Police along with another man. John Elvis Jones, 25, was told by a judge earlier this month that he was required to enter a plea at his next appearance. However, he failed to show up to court on Thursday (Feb. 22) and is now wanted by police. Jones is charged with breaching a recognizance. Police say an officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the north side in November when a truck failed to stop at a stop sign. The truck then began driving erratically, lost control and came to a stop on a curb. The driver tried to escape again, but hit a parked vehicle and two police cruisers in doing so.  The co-accused in the case and the driver of the truck, 37-year old Jyi Trotter, was sentenced in December to 90 days in jail. -Sam Borsato
