Amanda Cristabel Rivas was born at 12:24 a.m. on January 1 at Chinook Regional Hospital, weighing 7 pounds and 7 ounces. She was expected on January 5, but came a few days early.
New mom, Karla Rivas, and baby are doing well.
According to Alberta Health Services - South Zone Communications Coordinator, Patrick Burles, Pincher Creek has also welcomed a new year baby. However, no further details are available yet.
Other communities in the region including the Crowsnest Pass, Cardston, Taber and Brooks don't appear to have any babies on the way for the first day of 2019.
