Claresholm Town Councillor Receiving Supportive Messages from Across Canada After Weekend Assault

Donna Courage, who calls herself an outspoken person, was elected only a few months ago to Claresholm Town Council.

A Town Councillor in Claresholm who was assaulted by someone in her own home a few days ago, says she's weighing whether or not she should resign. Donna Courage, who is an outspoken Councillor, was elected only a few months ago to Claresholm Town Council. She suffered a black eye, cuts on her head and arms and bruises and welts on her neck after an unknown assailant burst through her door Saturday night. Courage tells our radio station she's had a lot of support from Claresholm residents and people across the country since the story went public. She says after the incident, the person told her to "keep quiet and leave town." Courage says she hates to back down to bullies, however she is debating as to whether or not she should resign her position. Claresholm RCMP are investigating the incident. -Pat Siedlecki
