Two empty grain cars jumped the track along Highway 3 late Monday afternoon, snarling rush hour traffic for many commuters.
No injuries following a train derailment during rush hour traffic in Lethbridge Monday (Feb. 26). It happened around 5:30 pm when two empty grain cars from a CP train jumped the tracks. One of those cars came to rest against a nearby building near 17th Street. Lethbridge Police as well as Fire and EMS were called to the scene and had heavily backed up traffic moving again in about an hour. In an email to our radio station, CP Rail hasn't said what caused the derailment. - Pat Siedlecki
