Granum Man Dead in BC Highway Crash

A southern Alberta resident has been killed in a crash near Fernie on the weekend.

A resident from Granum has been killed in a crash just across the border in BC.

Fernie RCMP were called to the collision on Highway 3 early Sunday morning (Jan. 6) just east of that community.

Mounties say the lone driver of a vehicle crossed the centre line and collided with an oncoming van. The driver who died at the scene was not wearing a seatbelt.

Two occupants in the van suffered minor injuries.

The name of the 26 year old Fort Macleod-area man who died has not been released.

RCMP say it was snowing heavily at the time and road conditions as well as weather are being looked at as possible factors.
