Ground Officially Breaks on New Huntsville School in Iron Springs

The original school was built back in 1941.

A groundbreaking ceremony in the Hamlet of Iron Springs Thursday as work begins on a replacement for Huntsville School.

Palliser Regional Schools says enrollment at Huntsville continues to grow and with the addition of high school programming this year, the new building will better meet the needs of students for many years to come. The original school was built in 1941 with additions going up in 1951 and 1958 and further improvements made in 2013.

A large percentage of the population consists of Low German-speaking Mennonite students.

The cost of the project is pegged at $11-million.
