At least 50 people are dead and hundreds more are injured after a gunman opened fire at a Las Vegas concert Sunday night (Oct. 1). Country music artist Jason Aldean was performing at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when the shots rang out. According to Las Vegas police, 64-year old Stephen Paddock killed himself in a Mandalay Bay hotel room before officers could confront him. Police believe this was a "lone wolf" attack, and confirm that they are no longer seeking a roommate of the dead suspect as a person of interest. The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department says two of its off-duty members were shot during the attack. One remains in critical condition, while the other is described as stable. Authorities were forced to shut down part of the Las Vegas Strip and a nearby interstate highway, and flights were also temporarily halted at McCarran International Airport. Aldean later took to social media assuring that him and his crew are safe, saying that the shooting is "beyond horrific." -Sam Borsato
