Health Canada Launches Public Consultation on Proposed Cannabis Regulations

Canadians will have until January 20th to offer feedback on the federal government's proposed cannabis regulations.

The Federal Health Minister releasing the Liberal government's proposed cannabis regulations on Tuesday. Ginette Petitpas Taylor says Canadians will have until January 20th to offer opinions and feedback on the measures before they are implemented. She says public consultation seeks input on a number of topics including the proposed regulatory approach, including licensing, security requirements for producers and their facilities, product standards and labelling and packaging, access to cannabis for medical purposes, and health products containing cannabis.  The production and distribution of recreational marijuana is still expected to become legal in July 2018. -Tina Giesbrecht
