The Western Hockey League has named Hurricane defenseman, Calen Addison, as Player of the Week for the week ending December 3rd.
The Western Hockey League announced Monday that Lethbridge Hurricanes defenceman Calen Addison has been named the WHL On the Run Player of the Week for the week ending December 3, 2017.
Addison, a prospect eligible for the 2018 NHL Draft, registered eight points (1G-7A) in four games this week, helping the Hurricanes to three wins and six important points in the Central Division race.
Tuesday against the Portland Winterhawks, Addison chipped in a pair of assists as the Hurricanes mounted a third period comeback against the top team in the WHL, eventually winning 4-3 in a shootout. Friday, Addison scored the Hurricanes’ only goal in a 5-1 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings.
After going pointless in a 4-1 victory over the Victoria Royals Saturday, Addison exploded with a big offensive effort Sunday. In a 7-2 drubbing of the Edmonton Oil Kings, Addison potted five assists, earning second star of the game honours and the second star of the night honours in the WHL.
The 5-foot-11, 178-pound product of Brandon, Man. presently sits third on the Hurricanes in scoring with 32 points (6G-26A) in 27 games. Those totals also have ranked fourth in WHL scoring for defencemen. He’s the first player from the Central Division to win a weekly award this season.
