Hurricanes With Solid Performance, Defeat Broncos 5-2 at ENMAX Centre

A big win for the Lethbridge Hurricanes Friday night as they beat one of the top teams in the WHL.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes spoiled the return of three former team mates as they beat the Swift Current Broncos 5-2 Friday night at the ENMAX Centre. The Canes jumped out to a 4-0 lead on goals by Igor Merezhko, Jordy Bellerive, Tate Olson, Kelt Jeri-Leon. Three of those four goals were on the power play as the Canes found a way to get to goalie Stuart Skinner in this one. Ty Prefontaine added the other. Former Canes Captain Giorgio Estephan scored once for Swift Current and added an assist. Hurricanes goalie and former Bronco Logan Flodell had a solid game between the pipes for Lethbridge. Prior to the game, the Hurricanes honoured Skinner, Estephan, and Tanner Nagel all traded to the Broncos in January. The victory improves the Canes overall record to 24-21-6 on the season. They play host to the Edmonton Oil Kings Saturday (Feb. 3). - Pat Siedlecki
