A Calgary-based company, focused on providing recreational cannabis to the Alberta market, will be setting up shop in the Sherring Industrial Area.

The CEO of Economic Development Lethbridge says a massive marijuana cultivation facility, setting up shop in the Sherring Industrial Area, is expected to create about 150 jobs. Fifty First Parallel is a Calgary based pre-production applicant to become a licensed producer of cannabis. Trevor Lewington says the company has secured five acres of land, with the option of obtaining another five acres, to accommodate a total of three construction phases. In the end, the goal is to build a 180,000 square foot greenhouse cultivation facility where the company could produce up to 12,600 kilograms of cannabis annually. Lewington says the amount of sunlight Lethbridge gets per year, the relatively low cost of water and land and the agricultural expertise in this area, were all big factors in attracting Fifty First Parallel to the community.
