The $77 million trades and technologies facility at Lethbridge College is officially open.

The largest construction project in Lethbridge College history has come to a completion. Phase 1 of the trades and technologies facility opened to faculty and students about two years ago and now Phase 2 is also officially open. College CEO and President, Dr. Paula Burns, says it's nothing but the best inside with 168,812 square feet of space and state-of-the-art equipment. She says the practical learning experience for students in the facility is second to none in the province. The $77 million facility houses students from ten different trades and technologies programs including Automotive Service Technician, Parts Technician, Agricultural and Heavy Equipment Technician, Wind Turbine Technician, Electrician Apprenticeship Training, Welder Apprenticeship Training, Engineering Design and Drafting, and Interior Design Technology as well as classroom space for the Plumber Apprenticeship Training program. It's the largest trades training facility south of Calgary. Financing for the project came from the Province of Alberta, internal college funding and contributions from the "Possibilities are Endless" campaign which raised $27.8 million for college projects including the new Trades, Technologies and Innovation Facility. -Tina Giesbrecht
