27 year old Winston Hegi of Lethbridge is facing numerous charges, including fleeing from police and drug impaired driving, after two LPS vehicles were rammed during an incident on the west side Thursday.

A Lethbridge man has been arrested after trying to flee from police. On Thursday (Jan. 25) officers observed a stolen Ford F-350 truck at the West Side Trailer Court in the 2700 block of Westside Drive that police suspect had previously been involved in a break, enter and theft in Coaldale. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, suspects took off and rammed two LPS vehicles at a high rate of speed. The truck continued north on Westside Drive and turned west onto Highway 3 towards Coalhurst. Lethbridge Police, in an attempt at stopping the suspect vehicle, deployed stop sticks along the highway resulting in several of the vehicles tires being deflated. The truck continued to flee from police onto secondary highway 519. Approximately 11 kilometers south of Highway 3, the truck stopped briefly and the passenger came out and surrendered to police. The driver though continued southbound and became stuck in a ditch. The driver was soon after taken into custody. As a result, two police vehicles sustained significant damage.
