Lethbridge MP Rachael Harder Loses Bid to Become House Status of Women Committee Chair

Lethbridge Conservative MP Rachael Harder has lost the bid to become the House Status of Women Committee chair.

Lethbridge Conservative MP Rachael Harder has lost the bid to become the House Status of Women Committee chair. Her Liberal counterparts walked out of a meeting last week in protest of her nomination for the position. That forced an end to the meeting before a vote could be cast with opponents saying Harder's anti-abortion and anti-trans views make her unfit to lead the committee. Harder recently told this radio station it's a double standard since some Liberal MPs, notably Laurence McCauley, Kevin Lamoureux and John McKay, all hold similar views. She was recently named Conservative critic for the Status of Women by party leader Andrew Scheer which was part of the reason for her committee chair nomination. Liberal MPs voted against Harder Tuesday morning and supported her colleague Karen Vecchio to take the chair. -Sam Borsato
