Lethbridge Opinion Poll Shows Residents Split Over Support for NDP Carbon Tax

Lethbridge College recently conducted city-wide survey to gauge residents thoughts on the issue.

Lethbridge residents are almost split as to whether they support the NDP government's carbon levy and rebate program. The carbon tax on gas and home heating fuel came into effect on January 1st and a few days later, over 60% of Alberta families received a rebate from the province. Lethbridge College recently conducted city-wide survey to gauge residents thoughts on the issue. A slight majority of residents polled, 54%, still say "NO" to the carbon tax and rebate program. That opposition has leveled off from a peak of 64% at this time last year. Over 1,200 adult Lethbridge residents were surveyed by phone in mid-February. -Pat Siedlecki
