Seven Lethbridge organizations are partnering to support the National Men's University Hockey Championship at the ENMAX Centre.

A special local initiative has been launched to get people and businesses to show support for the upcoming national men's university hockey championship.

The U SPORTS Cavendish Farms University Cup takes place in Lethbridge from March 14th to 17th at the ENMAX Centre. "Home Town Spirit" has been put together by seven local organizations.

Shilpa Stocker with the Lethbridge Lodging Association says a few things are planned to allow people in Lethbridge and southern Alberta to show their home town spirit. “This is a fantastic opportunity for Lethbridge to show Canada our spirit and to be showcased as the community that celebrates our Community and celebrates our game. Lethbridge has a rich history in hosting national events, including this U SPORTS Men’s Hockey National Championship.:

This is the first time the University of Lethbridge and the City is hosting a national men's university hockey championship. The U of L Pronghorns played in the national tournament 25 years ago.

Ted Stilson, Executive Director of Downtown Lethbridge BRZ  says downtown businesses are excited about welcoming players, fans and visitors to our community. "We will be encouraging our businesses to get into the hockey spirit and decorate their stores and offices for the week leading up to the event. It should be a fun week.”

Additionally, City Hall colours will be Blue and Gold to cheer on our U of L Pronghorns Men’s Hockey Team leading up to the big event.
