Piles of wet snow on rural roads in the County of Forty Mile and water issues in Burdett following Monday's massive snow storm across southern Alberta.

Monday's snow storm still causing issues east of Lethbridge in the County of Forty Mile. The County says the storm has left many rural roads there either blocked or impassable. Monday's storm dumped more than 30 cm of snow on parts of the County of Forty Mile, coupled with wind gusting to 100 km/h. The County has 16 graders working to clear roads, but the amount of heavy wet snow that area received means it could take a couple of days. Meanwhile, Alberta Emergency Alerts has issued a Water Quality advisory for Burdett. The hamlet, west of Bow Island is experiencing water quality issues due to the intense storm and crews are actively working to resolve the issue. Power outages caused by the recent winter storm caused a temporary loss in pressure to the Burdett water distribution system. Crews are flushing the Hamlet's main lines and will be submitting water samples to Alberta Health for testing. Occasionally further flushing and samples are required after testing. Once the samples have been confirmed to be healthy the Boil Water Advisory will be lifted. At this time people living in Burdett are being asked to boil their tap water before drinking it. - Pat Siedlecki
