New Home Construction Slows in Lethbridge Region in February

A drop in housing starts last month in the Lethbridge region, however construction for the first two months of 2018 is almost on par with 2017.

A drop in new home construction in the Lethbridge area last month. Canada Mortgage and Housing says ground broke on 38 homes in the Lethbridge Metropolitan Area in February, down from 61 during the same month last year. The good news is, new home starts for the first two months of 2018 are on pretty much the same pace as last year overall (81 builds in the first two months of 2017 compared with 78 in 2018) CMHC says homebuilders in Lethbridge are continuing to slow the pace of construction as employment in the region normalizes. - Pat Siedlecki
