Two wind projects near Pincher Creek among those selected in the first round of Alberta's Renewable Electricity Program. Enel Green Power Canada is one of three companies to chosen from the competitive process and will be building the 115 megawatt Riverview Wind Farm and the 31 megawatt Phase 2 of Castle Rock Ridge Wind Power Plant. Environment Minister Shannon Phillips, says southwest Alberta is no stranger to wind power, as landowners have been benefiting from the technology for over 25 years. The other two companies selected in the opening round of the renewables auction will be building wind projects southwest of Medicine Hat and east of Hanna. The weighted average price of the successful bids is 3.7 cents per kilowatt hour, the lowest ever recorded in Canada and among the lowest in the world. -Tina Giesbrecht
