Petition Urging Lethbridge Police to Fire Officer Who Ran Over Injured Deer

An online petition is quickly gaining momentum, being signed by those who are outraged that a Lethbridge Police officer is still allowed to work, despite his questionable actions to euthanize an injured deer.

A video taken by a resident earlier this week shows the officer using his service vehicle to drive over the animal that was hurt along Scenic Drive.

The officer will remain on active duty while the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ASIRT) investigates the incident.

It has been confirmed by our radio station that it is lawful for LPS officers to use their firearm within city limits to euthanize an injured animal.

The petition started by Tara Belcher on Change.org states, "This is inhumane, and disgusting... This officer should no longer be part of the police department for his inappropriate actions!"

More than 8,000 people have already signed the petition.
