A move by Taber Police to reach out to the community last year to try and find a solution to the town's aged animal control facility has sparked some positive results.
Consultations are currently underway for a much-needed new animal control facility in Taber.
Last year, the Taber Police Service reached out to the community by hosting a town hall meeting regarding animal wellness issues Taber. A local group has since come forward and are in the process of obtaining society status.
The Town of Taber has already budgeted and approved funding that will make up a portion of the project cost.
Taber Police say the Lost Paws Society plans to work with the community to make the new building more than just a dog pound.
Anyone in Taber who wants to be part of the project or have any questions can call either Taber Police or contact the Taber Lost Paws Society on Facebook.
