Four men were fishing just east of Vulcan when their boat capsized in the rough conditions. Three of them were able to make it to shore.
Vulcan RCMP are on the search for a missing boater who went missing on McGregor Lake on Saturday (Sep. 30). Four men were fishing just east of Vulcan when their boat capsized in rough conditions. One of them was able to swim to shore, while two others were picked up by a passing boater. All three were treated for hypothermia by EMS at the scene, but were not taken to hospital. Search and rescue efforts went into action for the fourth man and the boat, but neither have been found. Police alongside Fish and Wildlife officers, Vulcan County and Strathmore Fire and RCMP Air services searched into Saturday evening, before it became too dark. The search resumed Sunday morning (Oct. 1), but has since been suspended due to dangerously high winds. A ground crew will continue looking along the banks at McGregor Lake. Updates will be provided when they are available. -Sam Borsato
