Resolution Possible Soon in Case of Man & Woman Accused of Abusing Lethbridge Toddler

The 32 year old man, who cannot be named, is dating the little boy's mother and is charged with assault and failing to provide the necessaries of life.

The lawyer for a man accused of assaulting a two-year old boy indicating in court Friday (Mar. 1) he plans to resolve the case by the end of this month. Lethbridge Police responded to a tip in September that a toddler may be in danger. A hospital exam later revealed injuries all over his body. The 32 year old man -- who cannot be named to protect the child's identity -- is dating the little boy's mother and is charged with assault and failing to provide the necessaries of life. He's elected for provincial court with the defence noting that he intends to enter a plea on March 23rd and that the matter should also be resolved at that time. The boy's mother, who's facing similar charges, will be back in court the same day. - Sam Borsato
