Not the way the Lethbridge Hurricanes were hoping to start off their post-Christmas schedule.
The Victoria Royals put an end to the Hurricanes three game win streak Friday night.
It wasn't the way the Hurricanes were hoping to start off following a 12 day break. Two goals in the opening ten minutes of the first period helped lift the Royals to a 6-2 victory at the ENMAX Centre. Victoria also added three more in the second and an insurance marker in the third.
The two Lethbridge goals were scored by Jordy Bellerive and Calen Addison. The shots slightly favoured the Hurricanes 32-29 on the night. The loss drops the Canes overall record to 18-10-4-2, two points back of Red Deer for top spot in the WHL's Central Division.
The Hurricanes next action is Saturday (Dec. 29) when they play the Kootenay ICE in Cranbrook.
