Stand-Off Woman Charged After Lethbridge Police Officer Hit With Vehicle

28 year old Sarah Goodstriker of Stand-Off is facing a long list of charges including assaulting a police officer with a weapon after an incident Sunday afternoon on the north side.

Lethbridge Police have charged a Blood Reserve woman in connection with an incident over the weekend where an officer was hit by a vehicle.

On Sunday afternoon (Feb. 3) police were conducting patrols along 15th Street North when they saw a car which had been involved in an incident two days before in which a vehicle failed to stop for police.

Police conducted a door knock and went to a nearby home and arrested a woman and man inside. 

LPS say as one of the officers was going to retrieve the woman’s purse from the passenger side of the vehicle she jumped into the driver’s seat with her handcuffs still on (now in front of her body), locked the doors, started the vehicle without any keys and quickly accelerated in reverse, hitting the officer. 

Later in the evening, Blood Tribe Police arrested the suspect and brought her back to Lethbridge.

28 year old Sarah Goodstriker of Stand-Off is facing a long list of charges including assaulting a police officer with a weapon (vehicle), dangerous driving, escaping custody, obstructing police by giving a flase name, trying to avoid arrest, and fleeing from police.

She remains in jail awaiting a release hearing.
