Tigers Blank Hurricanes in Second Half of Home-and-Home Opening Weekend Series

The Lethbridge Hurricanes were shut out 4-0 in Medicine Hat Saturday night.

The Medicine Hat Tigers got a bit of revenge against the Lethbridge Hurricanes Saturday night. After the Canes pulled out a 5-2 victory Friday, the Tigers returned the favour with a 4-0 win over the Hurricanes at the Canalta Centre. In fact, the Hurricanes were kept off the scoreboard completely. After a scoreless first period, Medicine Hat's Ryan Chyzowski scored 1:20 into the second period for what turned out to be the eventual game winning goal. Medicine Hat out shot Lethbridge 44-29 on this night. The Canes were 0/2 on the power play and the Tigers went 1/3. The Canes early season record falls to 1-1. The Hurricanes next action is on the road Friday (Sept. 29) when they travel to Edmonton. The Oil Kings and Hurricanes will play again Saturday (Sept. 30) back in Lethbridge. - Pat Siedlecki
