Time Change Means Checking Your Smoke Detector

Springing ahead serves as a great reminder to check your detector batteries.

While you're presumably sleeping early Sunday morning, Daylight Saving Time arrives in Alberta.This is serves as an ideal time to inspect something that just may save you family's lives; smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Fire Prevention Officer, Troy Hicks says you should check your smoke detector at least twice a year and that it's located outside of living quarters. Hicks says it's also a good idea to check your  carbon monoxide detectors which should be located close to the floor. Anyone with mobility issues should have a family member perform the check  - Brian Treadwell
