Town of Coaldale Rolls Out Curbside Composting

Not only do residents in Coaldale have curbside recycling, as of Monday (Mar. 5) curbside composting is now available in town.

While Lethbridge is waiting on a complete roll out of its curbside recycling, the Town of Coaldale has introduced composting, joining garbage and recycling in the town's third stream of curbside collection. Coaldale rolled out curbside recycling in 2012 and now composting carts will be picked up weekly from March 1 until November 30. December to February the composting carts will be picked up bi-weekly. Garbage cart pick-up will be moving to a bi-weekly pick-up in Coaldale with no additional cost on utility bills to cover the curbside composting. It is being rolled out at no-cost to town residents. The City of Lethbridge meanwhile, will be charging an extra $7 per month on residential utility bills for bi-weekly curbside recycling while reducing garbage service by 50%. - Brian Treadwell
