World War Two Military Device Destroyed After Explosives Call

No injuries after Lethbridge Police safely destroyed an old explosive found at a south side home.

Lethbridge Police has to call in its explosives disposal unit Monday (Sept. 25) after a bit of a scare at a south side home. Officers were called out to the 800 block of 8th Avenue South after what looked to be an old explosive was found in a basement. The device was taken outside and eventually safely destroyed. A number of homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution. Police later said its believed the explosive was a World War Two military device.
